Federal legislator outreach

Bring federal IIJA, FTA, and Reconnecting Communities money home through Nevada's congressional delegation.

Overview

Federal Legislator Outreach builds relationships with Nevada’s congressional delegation so Las Vegas transit projects can compete for federal attention, grant support, and public backing.

The project focuses on the state’s senators and House members, especially the offices representing the Las Vegas Valley.

Motivation

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, FTA Capital Investment Grants, and Reconnecting Communities programs are still moving major transportation money through the end of the decade. Las Vegas cannot assume that money will arrive without organized local advocacy.

Nevada’s delegation has to understand the Valley’s transit priorities before an application, hearing, or project announcement needs support. Congressional letters, site visits, and visible interest can help move shovel-ready projects from local ambition to federal opportunity.

Approach

LVBT will develop relationships with the offices of Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Jacky Rosen, Rep. Steven Horsford, Rep. Dina Titus, Rep. Susie Lee, and Rep. Mark Amodei.

The work will coordinate with RTC’s federal-grants team where useful, so LVBT advocacy supports live applications rather than creating parallel asks.

Activities

LVBT will keep a working map of congressional offices, staff contacts, relevant grant programs, and local projects that need federal attention. That map turns federal advocacy from occasional emails into a standing channel.

People will see project tours, site visits, support letters, joint announcements where appropriate, and plain explanations of how federal money becomes better transit, safer streets, and repaired neighborhood connections in the Valley.
