Why this project
The Nevada Legislature meets every two years. The bodies that actually steer Las Vegas transit between sessions — RTC board, county commission, city councils — meet every month. Most decisions affecting the system happen in those rooms, with no advocate present and no public summary the next day. The Local Government Program changes that, simply, by showing up.
Approach
- Calendar all five bodies’ meetings on a public Google Calendar feed embedded on the site
- Pre-read each agenda; flag transit-relevant items the day they post
- Standing comment templates LVBT adapts per item; member submissions encouraged via the site
- Recap each meeting within a week — short, plain, sourced
- Feed votes to Transit Watch’s scorecards so the public record builds month over month
